Just read the latest reports from 2014 that the number of war deaths spiked about 30% compared to 2013, and almost all of it is in the Middle East and Nigeria. It's between 160,000-200,000, over 90 percent of whom are Muslim. I don't see that number going down in the near future, especially since the Syrian war continues to spread.
What I'm wondering now is whether or not the Sunni nations in the Middle East will give ISIS at least some tacit support in order to create a buffer against Iran. It's clear to them that we aren't going to stop their nuclear ambitions, so if they consider themselves to be in danger, they may very well. Turkey was essentially letting ISIS use its territory in order to hammer the Kurds, and it's possible others will as well. This should be both horrifying and interesting to see what they do.
