Based on my understanding of how religions and cultures operate, it goes something like this:

Most religions and cultures will become whatever they need to become in order to preserve themselves. If an existential threat requires becoming something other than what they normally are, then Hindus and India will, hopefully, adapt their normal pattern into one that addresses the threat more effectively.

This nationalist Hindu Party merely senses an existential threat from Islam before most others in India. Consequently it is leading the way in attempting to lead India from its normally passive and accommodating natural self into a form that will be in a better mindset to defend itself from the perceived (and real) threat, in this case, Islam.

Christianity was forced to do this in the face of 400 years of Islamic conquest via the several Crusades. The Crusades were not Christianity's normal operating procedures. But Christians had to temporarily change to defend against an existential threat.

Churches in America remain gospel focused for the most part - mostly oblivious to external threats. This will have to change in the coming years before a Tsunami of cultural and religious (Islamic) opposition washes Christianity away. Great Britain has failed to do this and finds themselves generating more home grown terrorist Muslims than Brits in opposition to Islam.

Islam, on the other hand does not have to adapt to a less tolerant and more confrontational posture. That is already what they are. That has been the norm for that ideology since the days of its founder 1,400 years ago. Islam is not just a religion but is also a political, social, economic and military ideology. All others, both nations and ideologies, will have to become something "worse" than they would normally be to confront the intolerant, coercive and often violent orthodox Islamic revival taking place throughout the world today.

I agree completely.

"Great Britain has failed to do this and finds themselves generating more home grown terrorist Muslims than Brits in opposition to Islam."
And the same applies in France and probably elsewhere in Europe.
