Well, irrespective of how you interpret Jesus' words, if what you're
telling me is that you don't believe in the imminence of the Second
Coming, then I am truly startled. I have interpreted many of your
posts as expressing devotion to Orthodox Christianity, and so I
assumed that you believed in the imminence of the Second Coming, since
that doctrine is a core belief of Orthodox Christian theology.

But if you're saying that you don't believe in the Second Coming, then
since you're the Voice of Reason that would be consistent with your
posts on other subjects, since the Second Coming has failed to occur
for almost two millennia, despite repeated predictions of its
imminence for all those centuries, so by your logic about GD you would
have to conclude that there will be no Second Coming.

However, as the Voice of Reason, you should not confuse your rejection
of the Second Coming with the GD conclusion that there will be one or
two world wars this century. As I've said before, there is absolutely
no historical evidence to support the belief in the Second Coming, but
there is a huge amount of historical evidence in support of expecting
world wars. As the Voice of Reason, you should understand that.

Conversely, if you DO believe in the Second Coming, then as the Voice
of Reason you would also have to believe in the GD predictions of war,
because of the massive historical evidence.

I agree with you Higg. It's an intellectual debate until you get the feeling. For me it's a combination of dread and fear. And I keep trying to rationalize it away. But last year was kind of like and in-your-face experience. Where and how the bombs fall is immaterial to the fact that fundamental changes are at hand and leaving our lives in the hands of bureaucrats who've led us to this point isn't prudent. But it's a difficult job to accomplish.
It's also like the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. No matter what people say, this crisis is coming.
While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

Vladimir Putin At Davos Online Forum – Transcript
All this is inevitably affecting the nature of international relations and is not making them more stable or predictable. International institutions are becoming weaker, regional conflicts are emerging one after another, and the system of global security is deteriorating.

Klaus has mentioned the conversation I had yesterday with the US President on extending the New START. This is, without a doubt, a step in the right direction. Nevertheless, the differences are leading to a downward spiral. As you are aware, the inability and unwillingness to find substantive solutions to problems like this in the 20th century led to the WWII catastrophe.

Of course, such a heated global conflict is impossible in principle, I hope. This is what I am pinning my hopes on, because this would be the end of humanity. However, as I have said, the situation could take an unexpected and uncontrollable turn – unless we do something to prevent this.

Higgy, thanks for the link.

I don't see anything there but lip service from Mr. Putin, as it is my belief that he is just playing the international crowd for its already strong ties to such disgusting people (via its elite) as Schwab. I could be wrong, he might be some sort of crypto globalist, but I highly doubt it. Again, I assign a very small % chance to this viewpoint. I think one can read through the lines that he sees conflict as MUCH more likely than some idiotic Agenda put forth by pussies like Schwab and Gates.

Again, why don't you just ask me what I believe, as opposed to going through these hypotheticals, which aren't very helpful. Of course, it would take too much time to rightly discuss the parousia (appearance) and the orthodox view on it. The Gospel is clear that no one knows when this appearance will again take place, and there is an underlying reason, and that is (the real teaching here) to be vigilant. It basically is a warning to live life as you should, which we all fail at, and create excuses for, etc. Similarly, any wise man will tell you that you should always live with virtue and not foolishly, as you don't know when you will die. It is a similar concept.

Next, I do expect world wars, and I agree with you on many things - I just don't know why you are so emphatic on certain things rather than being open to the mysteries of life. We all like to have takes, opinions, make predictions, etc. And we should all be mature and accountable to those, or explain ourselves. That is all.

Britain to expand nuclear warhead stockpile by over 40% as global threats rise

By Reuters Staff

3 MIN READ

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will grow its nuclear warhead stockpile by more than 40% to ensure its security in a more risky global environment and as it faces new technological threats, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday.

The country had previously been reducing its nuclear weapons stockpile, and in 2010, the government set a cap of 180 warheads for the mid-2020 period. Johnson scrapped the earlier limit and said the number would now rise to a maximum of 260.

UK seeks more influence in Indo-Pacific as 'moderating impact' on China

By William James, Elizabeth Piper

5 MIN READ

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain wants to expand its influence among countries in the Indo-Pacific region to try to moderate China’s global dominance, a document laying out post-Brexit foreign and defence policy priorities said on Tuesday.

It sets out a planned increase to Britain’s nuclear arsenal to weigh against evolving global security threats, and underlines the importance of strong ties with the United States while naming Russia as the top regional threat.

Britain’s biggest foreign and defence policy review since the 1990 end of the Cold War sets out how Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to be at the forefront of a reinvigorated, rules-based international order based on cooperation and free trade.

Calling the Indo-Pacific “increasingly the geopolitical centre of the world”, the government highlighted a planned British aircraft carrier deployment to the region and said a previously postponed visit to India would go ahead in April.

“There is no question that China will pose a great challenge to an open society such as ours, but we will also work with China where that is consistent with our values and interests,” Johnson told parliament.

#USSTRATCOM Posture Statement Preview: The spectrum of conflict today is neither linear nor predictable. We must account for the possibility of conflict leading to conditions which could very rapidly drive an adversary to consider nuclear use as their least bad option.

I saw one of those war wagons for sale at the used car lot next to the Piggly Wiggly. A gas guzzler if I've ever seen one.

Satellite Images Reveal Nearly 120 New Missile Silos in China

Researchers scanning satellite images of northwestern China have discovered what they believe to be nearly 120 new missile silos, which Beijing is constructing as part of its serious pursuit of a nuclear triad.

Experts at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) in California say they have found 119 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) silos in various stages of construction near the city of Yumen, in China's Gansu province.

According to Jeffrey Lewis, director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at CNS, the sites were found by fellow researcher Decker Eveleth, whom he tasked with identifying patterns from similar missile silos China had built in Inner Mongolia.

The pictures, which were supplied by commercial satellite company Planet, revealed an array of under-construction ICBM silos spread across 700 square miles of desert, Lewis wrote in Foreign Policy on Thursday, describing the sight as "jaw-dropping."
