I listened to several videos on this site, and I had trouble
understanding what you liked about them. The technical aspects were
brilliant, but the music was worse than mediocre, with a vocalist who
sounded like she was reciting lyrics as if she were reading them for
the first time from a teleprompter.

Then I came back here and clicked your Lovefool video, and
that was a hundred times better than any of the videos I
had seen, so I assume that the technology is still under
development and is improving.

However, they still have a way to go. For the purpose of
comparison, here is the Lovefool video, followed by a video
from a 1942 movie with Bob Eberly and Helen O'Connell singing
Tangerine with Jimmy Dorsey's Orchestra.

Ya gotta love Haley! :)

The idea with Postmodern Jukebox is that they (the leader) re-arrange, or just "arrange", present day pop songs in styles from the past.

They're not a very big group, so it's a bit difficult to get that real big band sound, but I think they do it pretty well, although sometimes their micing (miking, whatever!) could be better.

But, they're trying. <grin>

Aloha chief! <shaka nui!>

I'm sorry. I completely misunderstood what was going on. I clicked
on the link you provided, and listened to some of the videos. But,
believe it or not, I thought those videos were completely computer
generated graphics. It's only after I read your comment and looked
again that I realized that those are videos of real people. Sorry.

No need to be sorry, but that IS really interesting! :)

Was it the "Postmodern" tag that had you thinking it was CG? Or something else?

The "Barbie World" video could DEFINITELY be CG, though. <chuckle!>

..and I really do much prefer the 30's and 40's style arrangements. As before, that IS my favorite cultural period,.. although more exactly the late 30's to the very early 50's, and that bit from about 1958 to 1963/1964.

I blame it on movies during the earlier period, Myrna Loy, and to a far lesser extent William Powell, and the latter period to the SoCal (and up to Santa Cruz) beach culture, 'cuz my Dad was an "ex" Navy dude that liked to race slot cars at the beach joints.

But I hope to God that women's fashions from the 40's never come back around, 'cuz I'm SURE to be arrested for drooling on lady's shoes if they do.

..t'would be a pleasant time though. OK, lock me up,.. it'd be worth it.

Aloha nui loa mon frere! :) <shaka!>
