swine flu

Post by jaisely »

okay so ive heard about the swine flu in mexico b4, but today at school we got notices and like warnings about the "pandemic" saying that we have to be careful because its in the bay area in south CA where our community lives. so, im probably overreacting and stuffs, but does that mean its going to spread between hundreds of people and everything!?!?!? I am really freaking out because people in downtown SJ have been heard to have it which is only 20 mins away from our community. Is it true that there's no cure and that teenagers can easily die from it?!?!

The H1N1 swine flu virus that's been spreading around the world as a
pandemic is very mild for the vast majority of people. It's really not
much different from the ordinary seasonal flu that comes around every
year anyway. You really have nothing to fear, and you should just go
on living your life.

There is a concern that the virus will follow the same path as the
1918 Spanish Flu virus. It was mild in the spring and summer, but
came back in a second wave in the fall in a more virulent form. At
that time, the most vulnerable were people in 25-40 age range.

** Rapid worldwide H1N1 swine flu spread is raising big concerns for the Fall.

However, you have to put that into perspective. Even at its worst,
97% of all people who got the Spanish Flu survived and recovered, and
went on to live long lives. And the worst may not happen this time.

What you should do, first and foremost, is follow the instructions
that you've been given at school. Second, you should start thinking
clearly and responsibly about how you and your family should prepare
for the fall. The entire swine flu scare may simply fizzle and
disappear, but if it doesn't, then the people who will do best are
the people who don't panic, but take ordinary precautions.

Sincerely,

John

But the point where people panic is when considering what happens if the H1N1 swine flu does follow the 1918 path. Even if the worst doesn't happen this time, we can still realistically expect no less than 80-100 million casualties worldwide. In some of the underdeveloped countries, the losses might be enough to throw them into total chaos.

It's probably easier to panic this time because other events seem to suggest that the whole world is going to go to hell either this summer, or sometime very shortly afterward. Depending on how bad this thing gets, it might be the trigger for a major international war. Trust me, it's fairly difficult not to panic here.

All I can do is reaffirm John's advice of taking ordinary precautions, and add that if you're going to give in and buy anything from the pharmaceutical companies, don't buy any drugs that're marketed to be specifically aimed at the flu viruses. A simple bottle or two of vitamins, preferably ones stocked with enough Vitamin D3 to last you for at least six months (as it should give your body a better chance to avoid getting this virus), should suffice.

Now we are in the winter time AND I think people LIKE to panic. BUT, on my experience, as usual, when some people PREDICT panic there happens NO panic and NO problem.
As I wrote in another entry, follow the OMS site, THIS virus is not dangerous. Next one we will see, but it is in the future NOT NOW.

(same as for the financial markets, as long as too many people think that the world could die, it will survive, it is when people, and almost everyone on the planet, is optimist that we have disasters...)

I have no idea how credible this report is, but a "new, virulent" sptrain of the H1N1 flu is described as sweeping the Ukraine...

The Zerohedge article is a bit too sensationalist for me, especially
the suggestions of genetic engineering.

My best source of credible information is Henry L Niman's
Recombinomics site.

http://www.recombinomics.com/whats_new.html

Niman has been expressing increasing concern because the death rate
is increasing, and WHO is ducking questions.

This is something to watch closely.

The trouble with this article is that it is completly paranoid, so difficult to interpret.
YES the ukraine case is followed by the authorities and YES we do not know YET if this is a new virus, but the mortality is NOT very high and why always choosing the path of "everyone is lying".

Yeah, panic-driven articles are sometimes funny to read... but that's about it.

On that topic, though, anyone want to challenge the validity of this? Signs Indicate That Swine Flu Wave Has Peaked in U.S.

Since its discovery in 1976, Ebola has become the T. Rex of microbes. Share the love!
