After 40 years of interest rates dropping and bond prices going up, the switch to interest rates going up and inflation is going to be a huge shock to the financial world. Trend followers won't want to experience 40 years of interest rates going up on their bonds, so they will sell fast. This will drive rates up. Which will get more trend followers to sell.
