Something interesting occurred to me after posting my previous message
on speed bumps. If you look at the four speed bumps:

• #1 occurred at the end of the Reagan administration.
• #2 occurred at the end of the Clinton administration.
• #3 occurred at the end of the Bush administration.
• #4 may occur at thed of the (first term of the)

I've always assumed that there was no political connection at all to

I'm continuing to smash the bots in the futures markets. For the past several months, I have averaged one or two losing days per month day trading the futures. However, as you know, I am also holding a large short position that is losing money. As a result of that, I am now down versus where I was in May, but not by much. Since May 3, the S&P futures are up 170 points and I have lost 7 points. But the rise has been slow and if it accelerates in blowoff fashion, my losses will steepen almost for sure.

My broker (who has been in the business close to 3 decades) has told me several times that I am the only client he has ever had who can successfully day trade the market and there is nobody else he has seen try who has even come close. That's the real world. Successful day traders are extremely rare. And, like I said, I have not been able to beat the market and will not be able to unless it collapses while I am holding a large short position. That remains to be seen and I believe there is still a reasonable chance that they will take me out.

I have been able to hold them off for the past two months, until today.

For 9 months, I have fought fiercely and pounded the bots relentlessly as I have held short. I have not added any funds to my futures account during this entire time. I was on call at the May and July tops, but a market collapse rescued me both times before I needed to add any funds.

Yesterday I actually ended the day net positive, smashing the bots for more than the market rose against my short position.

However, as this blowoff has continued to accelerate today, I will certainly be on call again at the close. If the market doesn't collapse in the next 2 days, I will be digging into funds I have set aside to meet any margin calls.

The right attitude to have in futures trading is, "I don''t ever give these fuckers a dime, period."

The corollary to that is to keep my back against the wall and force myself to fight at all times. The attitude needs to be that parting with money is never an acceptable alternative, and I learned that hard lesson in 2013.

Here, though, the situation has become extreme enough that I will go ahead and add the funds if need be. The fact that I may be needing to add funds may be an indication that others will be forced to capitulate (and may be doing so at this moment).
