This chart from the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis shows non-oil GDP growth in Saudi Arabia going from 5% when I first started using that phrase in the signature line to zero. This lowering of GDP to zero and below will be seen in countries closer to the core as the collapse spreads inward.

I wanted to leave the main theme of the dark age collapse process in the signature line. In addition to Saudi Arabia starting to come apart, the collapse has spread inward such that "The core of Europe is coming apart and with that, the Industrial Age is coming to an end" would also be appropriate, etc.

So taking the mention of Saudi Arabia out separates the wheat from the chaff before I begin the transition "to a post industrial age way of life".

To summarize, this is it:
This is a summary of my view since the GD forum was started by John in September 2008.

In 2008, I believed a new Great Depression had started which would last for many decades.

In 2011, I modified this belief to a new Dark Age. The reason for this was the world's leaders failed to address the problems that became evident in 2008 and made them worse to the point that they became irreversible.

Now in 2018, I believe this is the right time to prepare for a new Dark Age. In a nutshell, that means transitioning to a post industrial age way of life. The question of timing is important mainly because before the Dark Age fully manifests, the wealth of the periphery is being drained out toward the capital cities of the hegemon. The collapse of Carillion versus the new records in the US stock indices illustrates this very starkly.

The way I see the dark age process, it is initiated by the internal actions of the hegemon (the US in this case) but the symptoms first show up mostly in the periphery. The Middle East (Syria), Africa (Mali), and the edges of Europe (Greece), Russia (Siberia) and the US (Detroit) have been slowly breaking down toward chaos. This will spread inward toward the capital cities of the hegemon (Washington DC and New York in this case) as the hegemon continues to suck resources out of the periphery at a more frenzied pace. We have moved into the frenzied pace stage as many parts of the world have been sucked dry and the US has abdicated them and moved on to areas that are closer to the core, including China and its own citizens. This is where things begin to get dangerous. Once the capital cities of the hegemon break down, then the dark age will have begun. While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently. Once they collapse, the periphery will be relieved of pressure and things should improve somewhat for a limited period of time.

Now the giant sucking sound is reaching the core of Europe (Carillion is headquartered in Wolverhampton, England).

The shift will be seen after the mid terms as the political debate will now shift from how many middle class taxpayers actually will pay more, or less under the Republican tax bill to the undeniable fact that there will be a massive shift in the tax burden from the rich and onto the middle class. The majority of middle-class taxpayers will see some benefit from the tax bill. However, even they might ponder the question of how much more they would have gotten from a tax bill that provided that 39% of the benefits went to the top 1%, and 61% of the benefits went to the other 99% as opposed to the 83% going to the top 1%. Gruber was and is correct on one thing as we have already seen looking back. Basically they are indeed counting the Apples on the tree, as before and we all know how that worked out. The Democrats have no credibility since they are just another molek death cult and the Republicans have no shame either to events unfolding as the neo feudal takes root if we like it or not. The social insult will be once again educational standards since books had some advantages. As Coach always conveyed soft on the inside as opposed to soft on the outside to actual conditions called thinking and actually sportsmanship to the better.

The divide grows.

I told him how Social Insecurity has essentially been robbed, Obozo bailed out the banks, and the Wage gap is larger than before. Guy was red faced literally defending the state to tears. I couldn't effin believe it. B

Last year the homeless were camped next to the river on the southbound side of the freeway. The solution of the government geniuses was to chase them out and dump 20 foot high piles of dirt between the freeway and river. The homeless just moved to the other river bank and the number of tents increased dramatically.

A lot of these people are not the standard drunk/drugged/mental cases of the past. They were crushed by (he whose name should never be mentioned in polite conversation) and his administration's economic recovery lie. D

One with hyperproteinemia so vacation is not a reality.

Rule 12. Enigmas have no solution. Drawing upon the overall umbrella of events surrounding the crime and the multitude of players and events, paint the entire affair as too complex to solve. This causes those otherwise following the matter to begin to lose interest more quickly without having to address the actual issues.

When I asked this question, I thought you might have changed your mind
in view of MBS's actions in blockading Qatar and sequestering all the
princes.

Here's my summary of what's going to happen, oft stated, and
also basically unchanged since 2008 or earlier.

Although I sometimes call myself the gloomiest person in the
world, it's worth noting that there are other forecasts that
are gloomier than mine. These include the following:
  • The view that any nuclear war will kill all humanity, with the
possible exception of some scattered small communities that move to
sealed underground caves to escape the radiation.
  • The Biblical end times: Parallels are drawn between today's events
and the visions in Revelations, leading to the prediction that Jesus
    Christ will return soon.
  • Albert Einstein: "I know not with what weapons World War III will
be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
  • Higgenbotham: "A new Dark Age: transitioning to a post industrial
age way of life." I've never understood the full consequences of this
view, but the phrase "Dark Age" means to me a period of several
centuries characterized by ignorance, barbarism, and a complete
technological freeze (i.e., no new inventions).
So my oft-stated Generational Dynamics predictions are these:
  • There will be a major global financial panic and crisis. As in
1929, there will be a quick recovery from the panic, but the crash
will continue over a long period. The suggested scenario of a
collapse spreading from the periphery to the core is credible to me.
However, the trigger and timing of the panic cannot be predicted.
  • The Mideast is headed for a major regional war, pitting Sunnis
versus Shias, Jews versus Arabs, and various ethnic groups against
    each other.
  • The world is headed for WW III, a Clash of Civilizations world
war, in which the "axis" of China, Pakistan and the Sunni Muslim
countries will be pitted against the "allies," the US, India, Russia,
    Iran and the West.
  • Like WW II, WW III will last around five years, though there may
be regional offshoots that last longer. (Cf China's Communist
Revolution, India-Pakistan Partition war, and Jew-Arab Mideast war
    after WW II.)
  • There will be no Biblical end times outcome. A special mention
must be made of Isaiah 17:1-3, which predicts the destruction of
Damascus, turning it from a city into "a heap of ruins." Almost
everyone in the Mideast seems to know about this prophecy, so if
anyone ever nukes Damascus, it would be with the specific purpose and
intent of fulfilling the prophecy, which would make it a
    self-fulfilling prophecy.
  • By the end of the war, every nuclear weapon in the world will have
been used on some target. However, this does not mean that everyone
will be killed. The kill range of a nuclear weapon is 5-10 miles,
even counting deaths from radiation, so only a tiny fraction of the
world's population will be killed by nuclear weapons.
  • A total of about 3-4 billion people will be killed by the war,
from nuclear weapons, conventional weapons, ground war, marauding
    gangs, disease and starvation.
  • At the end of the war, there will be an international conference
in some place like Geneva to come up with a way to guarantee that
nothing like this ever happens again. National boundaries will be
redrawn as necessary. The United Nations will be restructured.
  • Technology development will continue as before. Most of the world
will be minimally but solidly rebuilt within five years. This will be
a typical generational First Turning Recovery Era.
  • The Singularity will occur around 2030. The future of the human
race after that point is uncertain.

Just pick a spot upwind. Easy-peasy....

Radiation from a 1953 nuclear bomb test in Nevada fell in the Albany area during a rainstorm several days later and in three days exposed residents to as much as 10 times the normal annual dose, very slightly raising their risk of cancer, according to a Federal study.
The Albany fallout resulted from the test of a 43 kiloton bomb on April 25, 1953. The blast released a cloud of radioactive particles at the site, 65 miles north of Las Vegas, that drifted across the United States over the next few days and fell in Albany during the rainstorm, according to Colonel Keller. The ''rainout'' was measured in the area by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which had been alerted by the Atomic Energy Commission to measure it. The date of the rainstorm was not reported.
One bomb that was exploded about 2000 miles away from Albany brought noticeable fallout to the area.

You might not die in the blast but the repeated fallout will cause cancer.

The Fifth Chinese Nuclear Test was Detonated on Dec. 28, 1966. It "involved thermonuclear material," and, according to the AEC press release, was a nuclear test in the atmosphere at their test site near Lop Nor." As indicated above, by the end of Dec. 31, 1966 the leading edge of its fallout cloud extended as far east as the dotted line shown running from Arizona to the Great Lakes.
Fallout from the approximately 300 kiloton Chinese test explosion shown in Fig. 1 caused milk from cows that fed on pastures near Oak Ridge, Tennessee and elsewhere to be contaminated with radioiodine, although not with enough to be hazardous to health. However, this milk contamination (up to 900 picocuries of radioactive iodine per liter) and the measured dose rates from the gamma rays emitted from fallout particles deposited in different parts of the United States indicate that trans-Pacific fallout from even an overseas nuclear war in which "only" two or three hundred megatons would be exploded could result in tens of thousands of unprepared Americans suffering thyroid injury.
