Relic/History Destruction

I know genocide goes hand and hand with crisis wars. I was wondering what the occurrence of instances where an outside group destroys relics and records of past history are with crisis wars. It seems these would go hand and hand. It seems like the winning side wouldn't be able to kill all of the members of the other group but nonetheless would want to destroy any records of that group's history.
