It's going to be a lot more difficult than it was then, or even in the 1980's. We're at 20 trillion in debt currently with no realistic way to even slow the growth of it, much less reverse it.

Not only that, any attempt to strengthen the military will be opposed by Democrats and Republicans alike. It's seen as a waste of money even for Trump's minuscule increase and they believe we're so strong nobody would dare attack us; gee, when have I heard that before?
