Re: 19-Sep-16 World View -- New terrorist attack in Kashmir threatens India-Pakistan retaliation
John, Sorry about the excellent displays of radical xenophobia and racism that you quite accurately predict will continue to rise in a crisis era. As a individual who supports the sovereignty of countries and the protection of borders as a fundamental need for a state to exist it bothers me that the...

I am confused, just because the two countries aren't bitter enemies (though they have fought against each other in two major wars in the 20th century Russo-Japanese which was embarrassing for Russia and WWII) I don't see how that turns into Russia being okay with handing over the islands. Are you mo...

Re: 31-Aug-16 World View -- Uzbekistan's dictator president Karimov suffers stroke, threatening Central Asia stability
Great run down, thank you, I didn't know about the situation in Uzbekistan past the dictator taking ill. Minor typos, "In the base (past), Karimov has attended the celebrations and performed a traditional dance. Whether he's dead or still alive, it's not expected that he'll be doing is (the? his?) d...

Re: 24-Aug-16 World View -- Turkey prepares an army of 1,500 Syrian rebels to fight ISIS and Kurds in Syria
I could be wrong but I understood that the city of Hasaka hasn't had ISIS forces in it since middle of 2015. I thought YPG (and Assad's forces) cleared them out. However it is definitely correct that the Kurds and Assad forces have been clashing over the last week, which to me means Kurds are going ...

I always thought the reason Hindus and Shia Muslims allied was to combat the much stronger Sunni Muslim conquest. Making it a necessity for the time, but not a trend based on similar religious ties. So this could happen again on our timeline, but say in the future Sunnis was to decline you would see...

Re: 15-Aug-16 World View -- India, Pakistan celebrate independence day with vitriolic accusations about Kashmir
Wow. I completely screwed that paragraph up. It's actually a quote from an Indian minister criticizing Basit's remarks. I'll fix it tomorrow. I'm too sleepy to do it now. Thanks for pointing it out. Oh excellent, I am so glad that it didn't actually make sense. I thought I was losing reading compre...

Re: 15-Aug-16 World View -- India, Pakistan celebrate independence day with vitriolic accusations about Kashmir
I must be missing something this quote... Pakistan's envoy to India Abdul Basit, the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, said: "Pakistan will continue to extend its full diplomatic, political and moral support to the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir until they get their right to self-determi...

I am sure you saw this but looks like Russia and China governments can bond over their opposition to THAAD while they both conduct joint excericises in the South China Sea.

Re: 22-Jul-16 World View -- Turkey's Erdogan gives himself dictatorial powers, moving Turkey away from the West
I agree with all the points you made. I think Russia (militarily weak) would sit back and let America and China fight it out while taking the Baltics (easy kills) and perhaps Poland. I don't think Russia is much of an ally for anyone. Young Russian males are drug addled, alcoholic, and generally un...

Russia won't come into the war to save America. Russia will come into the war to save India. Makes sense since Russia and India have been close over the years. Example India being the first major power to recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea. But how will China involve India in the war before th...
