Re: 8-Jun-18 World View -- Macedonia name issue triggers more huge protests in northern Greece
Greece is one the world's oldest and most respected cultures. No one college-bound from my highly ranked high school could graduate without taking Grerk and Latin Derivatives. Words definitions have ever mattered to a Greek, and you will be parsed to your knees in a debate. The Macedonians are fight...

Re: 7-Jun-18 World View -- Turkey and Greece tensions rise with warplane dogfights over Aegean Sea
It never stops with Turkey. Guest is certainly correct. Greece ever deals with the Armenian problem and their own socialism. Greek males are obligated to report for military duty at a second's notice and may flag down any vehicle to transport them to bases. Erdogan is a pot stirrer not unlike Kim. T...

Re: 6-Jun-18 World View -- In a surprise, Ethiopia accepts peace deal with Eritrea
In the early 1950's when we got our first TV set and watched commercials, I observed to my parents that words no longer had meaningful definitions. The practice of putting ambiguous terms on paper now passes as communication/agreement.
We are officially living in fantasy.

Re: 5-Jun-18 World View -- Jordan's government in chaos as PM resigns in face of anti-government protests
Jordan played a major part in Israel's 1948 defending itself into statehood. The nomadic palestineans are at the root of present circumstances. As the entire civilized world deals with invading hordes, Jordan is reaping just consequences.

Re: 1-Jun-18 World View -- Israel hopeful that Egypt's mediation has ended Gaza violence - for now
Egypt as a mediator. :o  Took a while to process. An old truism applies here; a house divided cannot stand. Have we heard recently of Orthodox Jews stoning those moving about on Shabbat? Yelling and screaming factions during Knesset sessions? John's depiction of Gaza resembles UC work in a Chi...

Re: 31-May-18 World View -- Malaysia shocked when 92-year-old Mahathir Mohamad becomes prime minister
Mohamad has defied the American socialized medicine judgement that those over 75 are disposable. Even though Malaysians are aware of Mohamad's past actions, he was elected in preference to a greedy politically corrupt head of state. A lesson in there. China's aggression takes several forms. As is Am...

Re: 30-May-18 World View -- Philippine President Duterte reverses position, says he would go to war with China over SCS
Guest: No idea of your age. Those of us who were alive and aware during WWII, Korea and Vietnam have had more than glimpses of oriental grandiose ambitions. World domination combined with their lack of value for their own nation's human lives make them devious enemies. The ETO and PTO were entirely ...

Re: 30-May-18 World View -- Philippine President Duterte reverses position, says he would go to war with China over SCS
:| Scratching my head regarding Duterte's pronouncement. Is he counting on Americans to defend the Philippines? If so, leave the public threats to President Trump. Philippine history is a tale of corruption and squalor. A friend recently visited and reports little change since WWII. Even recovering ...

Re: 29-May-18 World View -- Italy's 'populist' government collapses, threatening eurozone exit
Congratulations John. You unwound this socio/economic web without producing a crime sequence diagram ala "Without a Trace". Greece and Italy are ancient cultures once military powers, now undisciplined. Economically going long and short in the same stock or bond is hardly good strategy. EU has prove...

Re: 28-May-18 World View -- Dozens killed in English-speaking Cameroon region by French-speaking government police
A pot boiled over. Now no civilized behavior. The francophiles seem to have the heavy armor; however, rage is a potent innovative force. Law that all be conducted in French is oppressive, an attempt to transform a nation by generational heritage enforced conversion. If our ambassor is debriefing and...
