On a superficial level identity politics seeks to replace class consciousness. It's also a nefarious means for the securely employed,
especially in the media and academia (doing the bidding of their billionaire grant donors), to dominate the conversation, to wrest the Megaphone from the worker and https://moneycircus.substack.com/p/naming-the-names deny him a voice. That is why the parade of victimhood is so crucial to woke politics.

Ironically, Adorno, the hater of popular culture, settled in Los Angeles. Marcuse ended up in NYC,
where the work of the Frankfurt School was continued on a formal basis at Columbia University.
The book's purpose is to make every group affiliation sound as if it were a sign of mental disorder. Everything from patriotism to religion to family -- and race -- loyalty are signs of a dangerous and defective "authoritarian personality." Because drawing distinctions between different groups is illegitimate, all group loyalties -- even close family ties! -- are "prejudice." As Christopher Lasch has written, the book leads to the conclusion that prejudice "could be eradicated only by subjecting the American people to what amounted to collective psychotherapy -- by treating them as inmates of an insane asylum."
The first attempt was 1986 on our group. It was a graduate student from Cornell. The internalized drones fell head first.

This is a log chart. Where the lines go is in the eye of the beholder. I don't believe there is one correct way to draw them. I tried to keep them parallel. Sure, it could hug the upper end of the channel for awhile longer, but I think it unlikely. I've been acting as if that is possible, though. If it's a megaphone pattern from 2018, it should end abruptly. I think the next touch of the bottom of the channel will crash through it.

Re: Financial topics
Maybe the long-awaited collapse of the megaphone patterns is finally upon us. The theory would be that when the collapse off the E wave begins it is fast and straight down with overnight gaps that do not get filled. That seems to be what we have: the fastest collapse on record with hardly any relief. The best we may get is a backtest of the line above but it doesn't need to happen. As far as timing, the main proponent was too inaccurate in his timing to get anything out of it, and he's been quiet for months. The concept has a lot of value though if applied at the right time and this may be it.aeden wrote:no matter what flares up the timing will be essential as you indicated

https://www.deathcanary.com/Estimating the precise timing of the top off this huge size pattern can be difficult, and any estimate could be off by a few years, which is insignificant relative to the size of the pattern and the size of the coming decline, but important to know to get out of harm’s way before its too late, but not too soon as to miss the rising trend. But estimates aside, this pattern is nearly complete, so we must be alert at any moment.

Flutter can occur in any object within a strong fluid flow, under the conditions that a positive feedback occurs between the structure's natural vibration and the aerodynamic forces. That is, the vibrational movement of the object increases an aerodynamic load, which in turn drives the object to move further. If the energy input by the aerodynamic excitation in a cycle is larger than that dissipated by the damping in the system, the amplitude of vibration will increase, resulting in self-exciting oscillation. The amplitude can thus build up and is only limited when the energy dissipated by aerodynamic and mechanical damping matches the energy input, which can result in large amplitude vibration and potentially lead to rapid failure. Because of this, structures exposed to aerodynamic forces — including wings and aerofoils, but also chimneys and bridges — are designed carefully within known parameters to avoid flutter. In complex structures where both the aerodynamics and the mechanical properties of the structure are not fully understood, flutter can only be discounted through detailed testing. Even changing the mass distribution of an aircraft or the stiffness of one component can induce flutter in an apparently unrelated aerodynamic component. At its mildest this can appear as a "buzz" in the aircraft structure, but at its most violent it can develop uncontrollably with great speed and cause serious damage to or lead to the destruction of the aircraft,[1] as in Braniff Flight 542.
In some cases, automatic control systems have been demonstrated to help prevent or limit flutter-related structural vibration.[citation needed]
Flutter can also occur on structures other than aircraft. One famous example of flutter phenomena is the collapse of the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Another is a particular playground swing in Firmat which "swings itself" with such force that it leads many to believe it is haunted.

Re: Financial topics
I don't want to say too much because these types can talk out of both sides of their mouth and I don't care to follow everything they put out to the public. In the case of McHugh, who wrote a book circa 2014 called The Economic Ice Age about the impending collapse of the megaphone pattern and depression, the article referenced above clearly states the range I posted:John wrote:** 21-Jul-2019 Harry Dent and Robert Prechter
What happened to Harry Dent and Robert Prechter? I haven't been paying
attention.
But suffice it to say my impression from what I have seen is that both Dent and Prechter turned bullish up here, though I cannot point to anything that is as clear as the above. Harry Dent has a youtube channel where everything I have watched lately has a bullish bias to it, or at least that is my impression, but I don't want to go to the work of pulling exact quotes and dates from videos. In the case of Prechter, who has definitely retreated from the media, I'm going by a publication that said on July 15 that "Hochberg/Kendall" (his newsletter writers for The Elliott Wave Financial Forecast, which I think is the official publication put out by Elliott Wave International) are BULLISH as of that date (which was the exact high so far, assuming it holds). This is classic as far as what happens at tops, as was a certain guru's call for $5000 gold at the 2011 top (which I am sure he would dispute).A Major Stock Market Top Is Imminent
Robert McHugh, Ph.D.

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 both are completing similar large Megaphone topping patterns from 2017, with upside price targets in the range of 3,050 to 3,100 for the S&P 500 and 8,100ish for the NASDAQ 100. Those averages should also top over the next week or so.

Megaphone pattern, in other words.Flutter is a self-feeding and potentially destructive vibration where aerodynamic forces on an object couple with a structure's natural mode of vibration to produce rapid periodic motion.
