I think the question of immunity needs more clarification before a return to normality can be seen. There is currently much doubt that either vaccine or infection will confer immunity for any length of time. So to get this ailment once a year or more often with its potential for long term damage is a daunting thought unless treatments can reduce the severity of the disease in some people. Its all still an unknown really.
