Energy and Employment
Logic dictates that most of the people presently coming illegally have no marketable skills and no desire to assimilate. People with marketable skills who desire to immigrate are probably more likely to want to do so legally, so as to maximize their potential once here. It's not hard to believe tha...

Issues
In most crises, there are only one or two major issues. The Revolution may have had noble privilege as well as colonial imperialism. The Civil War may have included a power struggle between the northern industrial robber barons and the big southern agricultural landowners. Would agriculture remain p...

Malthus and Global Warming
Recent readings from this page reminded me of Malthus. In his 1798 book An Essay on the Principle of Population , Malthus observed that an increase in a nation's food production improved the well-being of the population, but the improvement was temporary because it led to population growth, which in...

That data can't be trusted. Numbeo freely admits that they manipulate their data, and also freely admits that they won't tell you how they do it. "Our methods are proprietary." Sure, ignore data when it doesn't match your imagination. Don't provide an alternate source. I've provided an alternate vi...

Global Warming and Collapse
Let’s consider the so called collapse with the results of global warming. Most of the population lives on the seacoasts which are rising. Regions will become too hot. The cooler areas such as Canada or Siberia may have soil optimized for trees rather than crops. Land will have to be fertilized. Oil ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
Germany (where I was born) is practically bankrupt and wracked by incredibly levels violent migrant crime. Germany's future is bleak. Spain and France are not much better off. France routinely loses control of its streets to African and Arab criminals. I don't see any prosperity in Europe anywhere....

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book and the end of the world is evidently approaching” From an Assyrian Tablet circa 2800 ...

If Russia can't beat the Ukraine, how does it hope to go up against NATO? China need oil. How does it expect to get it from the Middle East if they start anything? Isn's China without war collapsing anyway from poor economic choices?Guest wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:20 pmHow is NATO going to finance a war with China and Russia?

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
I suppose this pessimistic attitude has its.place, deserving its own thread. My own attitude is the opposite. The Agricultural Age was a mess. Every four score and seven years a new birth of freedom arises and gets rid of a few flaws. One of the major flaws was colonial imperialism. A shift occurred...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
Bob, I'm not sure if you read what I copied on the previous page preceding that image of the Hutterite colony locations: Or maybe you did? I scanned the article briefly, but apparently not well enough. It just brought back memories of the Chinook climate and the Blizzard of 78. Besides, if there is...
