Merry Christmas Baseline power vs carbon, interesting points, especially note 4. http://colinmcinnes.blogspot.com/2012/12/energy-and-environment-news-from-state.html This has enormous potential. Even just allowing for updates on business card phone numbers would be a huge thing. Peel and stick flexi...

I believe this is the fourth Egyptian constitution since 1956. There have been two other provisional constitutions. They seem to run through them fairly rapidly. The digital evolution of the jihad is discussed here, and may be of interest to some: http://smallwarsjournal.com/jrnl/art/virtual-indoctr...

Re: 22-Dec-12 World View -- Ethnic revenge massacre in Kenya
John, I think you are ignoring the politics of the Kerry appointment. Kerry wanted to be SoS (no idea why) and that caused Republicans to signal that he was the sole candidate they'd accept without a furious confirmation fight. Why would they do that? Because outgoing Republican Senator Scott Brown ...

I ran across a historical reference that might be of interest to some, it was a reference to Tory rape gangs during the Revolution. I was looking up the Harpe brothers due to an odd claim a fellow put on me that serial killers were unknown during earlier "more Godly" eras, which is of course not tru...

What Congress will budget for tomorrow is not that predictable. Congress has already passed, and Obama has already singed, over One Trillion Dollars in defense spending cuts, which have yet to be translated into actual defense cuts. At this point the Obama administration get's to choose which weapo...

Re: Financial topics
Well, I can't predict what will come out of the fiscal cliff talks, but as of today, the US military is the strongest in the world. And I'll stand by that. What Congress will budget for tomorrow is not that predictable. I have said before that the US has to weaken its military before WWIII can actua...

Re: 19-Dec-12 World View -- 'Chained CPI' proposal
I suppose all the politicians would curl up and die if any of them actually told something approaching truth about Social Security and its future. The left wants to say nothing is wrong with it at all, and there isn't TODAY, but that won't last, the right wants to claim it's a PONZI scheme, which is...

John, Not really, Britian did not have the overreach the US military has, international trade was still backed by gold and silver coins were still common, and the British Empire didn't really fall apart until after WWII. And there's a huge difference between an Empire and a trade federation. We real...
