If you're afraid to die, meditating on the death process may help you. There are several variations online. I would do this at night as I lay in bed. It's helped me immensely. I used to be nearly paralyzed thinking about dying. Now I'm looking forward to the process--I just hope I can stay focused and enjoy the experience.

I don't want to go out the same way I came in--screaming and crying. :D

Hope this helps.

I just wrote a lengthy post answering a lot of these questions:

John wrote:The shading (above) indicates that during the crisis era, all generations are
unified behind the leader, and there are no serious differences
between the generations. Starting with the Recovery (Austerity) era,
new generations come of age that are distinctly different from the
unified generations of the crisis war.
In an era of "over extended crisis", where the climax event somehow "refuses" to happen, the "Youth Artist" box/group simply gets more "dense in it's population and shading", meaning that more young people fill that "box" that would otherwise have been "fed/routed" into the "Youth Prophet" box.

By "dense in it's shading" I mean that there is a MORE DENSE POPULATION of UNIFIED YOUTH in the "Youth Artist" box than is "normal".

This has the effect of "further pressurizing", with added youthful energy, the NATIONALISM (unity) that fuels the crisis. It also STARVES the (post climax) upcoming "Youth Prophet" box (population), which will mean that there are FEWER "non-unified" people bucking their conformist society post climax.

Super pressurized nationalism BEFORE the crisis climax means the climax will be more explosive.

Under pressurized non-conformism AFTER the crisis climax means that nationalism (conformity) will be more prevalent.

This "conformist nationalistic artistic-group" bulge has an interesting effect:
*) Austerity Era: Conformity and Power are very predominant values. Authoritarianism is "promoted".
*) Awakening Era: Idealism and Narcissism are persecuted/"frowned upon". The normally indecisive and busy/overworked elders are "toughened" by their exposure to increased authoritarianism into being more stubborn and entrenched in their "ways", more heavily suppressing the "Awakening/Idealistic" parts of society.
*) Unraveling Era: Morality is at a low ebb, while alienated younger parents overprotect their spoiled children, and the elders wield a very heavy hand on the "rules of behavior" of society.
*) (Next) Crisis Era: Authoritarianism has died (not "is dying"), and is "replaced"/inherited by immoral weak leaders who are constantly harried/harassed by "newly freed slaves" and their "spoiled but muscular" children. These "pissed off pragmatic reactionaries" replace/"kill off" their weak leaders very early in the "crisis era", forming a very "family oriented morally renewed" state with very young leadership, ready for battle (or "muscular non-battle") as a family against their "natural enemies" of the day.

Basically, the "nationalistic population pressure bulge" in the "Youth Artist" box creates a "partial vacuum" in the "Youth Prophet" box, which creates a "leadership deficit" during the next crisis era, which transforms their society significantly and MAY de-sync their society's GenDynamic timeline by "skipping" the need for an external "Crisis Era" (at the early destruction of their immoral weak leaders), sliding directly into a "weak" Austerity Era.

The "Crisis Era" ends without a typical Crisis Event, but the INTERNAL "killing off" of their despised "weak immoral leaders", who are THEIR FATHERS may actually be traumatic enough to count as a "genocidal crisis event".

..so,.. whatcha think Sensei? :)

Aloha nui ever'body!

Does "rational actors" equal "reasons"?

..inexplicable, unspecified, magical, unicorn fart -like, "reasons"?

I'm puttin' (not Putin!) my money on unicorn farts!

..smells like VICTORY... or perhaps Teen Spirit,.. not quite sure which.
Correct.

Because joking is better than paralysis, simply put. That's what sardonic humor is all about. Defiance in the face of evil(ness).

You'll need to have gotten your sleep, if any "major action" starts, so sleep well now. Sleep is a necessity, while worrying is not.

There's also the fact that, if you've been paying attention to the "ideas" on this site, it seems fairly certain that the "big antagonist" (China) is not quite ready to pull the trigger. They have more "setup" to accomplish.

Plus, if one sees the next big war as inevitable, and has "made peace" with that, there's no need to worry about it. And that makes it easier to see the "loopholes" that stave off the start of active hostilities that the countries involved can invoke to give themselves more time to prepare. Later is better than sooner, don'tcha think?

If it happens it happens, what can you do about it?

We got the hardware to shoot them down, and intercept sub-orbit. But nukes should be your ace in the sleeve. If NK only has a few, they shouldn't want to waste them as a first strike. In our favor if they do.
