Everyone has a fix for the world economy, and none of them make sense. Either it's spending money you don't have, or reinflating bubbles that can't be reinflated because nobody that is willing to assume the risk will be allowed to assume the risk. (Banks won't assume the risk of crazy mortgages now, and Fannie and Freddie aren't allowed to take more than they have. Hedge funds would speculate but their money is all tied up protecting themselves against losses, etc. Govt's have assumed all the risk they can afford, can't take on any more, and besides it's political suicide now.)

Assad would probably delight in a Turkish attack, on the assumption his people will side with him against the Turks.

The comic was very interesting, on several levels. It was no surprise to see the ultimate villain as oriental, I expected that, but the distortions of the terrorist bodies were not as extreme as I'd expected. (They did, however, share a number of characteristics with the zombies.) During a full blown crisis, depictions of the other side are always tremendously distorted.

Obviously, we are approaching the crisis, and Russia is not excepted, but we aren't quite there yet.
