Thanks to everyone for your contributions during the last week. It
would nice to figure out a way to continue that on a regular basis.

Congratulations on the award John, you deserve it.

Saw your remark about not seeing many pictures of oiled animals from the Gulf, there are quite a few reports of confiscated cameras and news crews being turned back from the damaged areas.

The robots are all online though, since a congressman demanded it.

Takes good video to see that.

Apparently I'm not logged in this morning. Oh well.

EU to Expand Rescue If Package Fails, Van Rompuy Says (Update4)

By James G. Neuger

June 10 (Bloomberg) -- European Union President Herman Van Rompuy said the 750 billion-euro ($905 billion) rescue package would be expanded if it doesn’t quell the debt crisis, becoming the first EU leader to float the idea of a larger fund.

“Currently there isn’t even the hint of a request to put this rescue plan into practice,” Van Rompuy told Belgium’s Trends magazine. “And if the plan were to prove insufficient, my answer is simple: in this case, we’ll do more.”

Korean Military Denies Top General Drunk as Ship Sank (Update1)
By Bomi Lim

June 11 (Bloomberg) -- South Korea’s military denied news reports that the nation’s most senior commander was sleeping off a drinking session in his office as one of the nation’s warships sank, killing 46 sailors.

General Lee Sang Eui, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, may have falsified a document to make it appear that he was in the Defense Ministry’s command-and-control center on the night of March 26 when the Cheonan was sunk, Yonhap News and the Hankyoreh newspaper reported today. The news organizations cited unidentified officials at the Board of Audit and Inspection and military personnel.
-------------------------------
It seems this story becomes more complicated and It could very well stop now, as usual (for the relation within Koreas) in a confusing situation, as long as South Korea is concerned, BUT what is North Korea going to do about the succession of "Kim the mad"???

Interesting video from when "thousands of Israelis rally in Tel Aviv in support of the IDF raid against the Gaza Freedom Flotilla that left nine passengers dead. The rally was organized through Israeli Facebook forums. In addition to supporting the IDF commando unit that attacked the Mavi Marmara ship, demonstrators expressed anger at Turkey and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who they accused of supporting terrorism".

One of interviewee claims that this event united Israel, another one says says "Death to Arabs". Maybe the past week has been a regenercy event for Israel.

The reason that I've been out of touch most of this week is because I've been in Orlando receiving an award for the paper I submitted last year to the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) Leading Edge Forum Papers competition. I wrote about this award a couple of months ago in the Web Log. This is the paper:

"International business forecasting using System Dynamics with generational flows."
http://www.GenerationalDynamics.com/ww2 ... asting.pdf

This award is a major validation of the Generational Dynamics theory, so I'm quite excited about it.

I got my pictured taken with the Chairman and CEO of CSC. Hopefully, I'll get a copy of the picture that I can post. I'll be returning home in the morning.

Adam wrote:More validation of what you have been saying John! Here is a quote from a North Korean that illustrates thier collective delusion that war is the solution to their problems.
"Others were more skeptical of the government’s propaganda, but still cast war as an inevitability. 'We always wait for the invasion,' said one former primary school teacher. 'My son says he wishes the war would come because life is too hard, and we will probably die anyway from starvation.'"
Here is the article http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/10/world ... wanted=all

Those are two very good articles, Adam, one on Korea and one on the Mideast. The tension is growing in both places.

That Debka report on Iran sending ships to break the Gaza blockade is interesting, but I can't seem to find much confirmation in the mainstream media, so I tend to be a bit suspicious of it. It may be just bluster by Ahmadinejad, who is very good at bluster.

However, if the Debka report DOES turn out to be true, we should be seeing some real fireworks within a couple of days.

I've been out of touch most of today, but I see that the Dow went up 273 points. This undoubtedly caused wild cheering among the financial pundits on CNBC today, but these wild swings are very ominous. Day traders really love this high volatility, because they're basically gamblers at heart, but it would take only a major piece of bad news to cause a major plunge.
