And what did you expect?

The real "story" here is that Huawei is massively tarnished, and countries have even more "excuse" to ban Huawei products.

All this really is is a "major annoyance", not a huge catastrophe but yet quite the annoyance, to the Chinese (gov).

It's just another (rather nicely configured) negotiation stratagem that the non-Chinese can use.

Hoorah!

Smacking the Chinese with a major annoyance is MUCH more valuable than a few quarts of blood from a pitiful little apparatchik.

And she's gone ...

I assume 10 MM (CAD no less) is like buying a Starbuck's coffee for her.

She's out on bail. I wonder how long the Chinese will wait to extract her? This is BS. The canucks are pussies.

Former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig detained in China after arrest
of Huawei CFO Sabrina Meng Wanzhou in Canada

Move comes after police in Canada arrested Sabrina Meng Wanzhou,
the CFO of China’s Huawei Technologies, on December 1 at the
request of US authorities

It’s not yet clear what reasons have been given for Kovrig’s
detention

A former Canadian diplomat has been detained in China while a Canadian
court weighs whether to grant bail to a top Chinese technology
executive who is being held in Vancouver pending a US extradition
request.

The International Crisis Group confirmed in a statement on Tuesday
that it was “aware of reports that its North East Asia Senior Adviser,
Michael Kovrig, has been detained in China”.

“We are doing everything possible to secure additional information on
Michael’s whereabouts as well as his prompt and safe release,” the
statement said.

The release did not indicate the reasons for Kovrig’s detention.

The news came as a court in Vancouver is set to decide whether to
grant bail for Sabrina Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of
China’s telecommunications giant, Huawei Technologies.

Meng was arrested in Vancouver on December at the US government’s
request, which accused Meng of violating US sanctions against Iran.

The arrest had angered Beijing. Over the weekend, Vice-Foreign
Minister Le Yucheng summoned Canadian Ambassador John McCallum on
Saturday night to lodge a “strong protest” and warned Ottawa of “grave
consequences” from Meng’s arrest.

Kovrig has been a full-time expert for the ICG since February 2017. He
served as senior adviser for North East Asia, conducting research and
providing analysis on foreign affairs and global security issues in
North East Asia, particularly on China, Japan and the Korean
peninsula.

More to come …

I'm happy about this turn of events. China's mask has finally fallen away.

Trump should ban and sanction her companies and imprison that criminal bitch for 30 years. Implode her company and put 300,000 Chinese out of work. Good. I would parade her around in chains and a a prison jump suit. She won't do well in an American prison. Just saying.
You don't understand the Chinese. The Chinese will walk away from Meng if need be. The success of their plans is more important than one individual..sacrifices can and will be made.
With Canada's soy boy cuck prime minster Trudeau in charge, Canada will probably bend over, get reamed out by the Chinks, and then let her go. Canada will prove once again that it is a soy boy colony ruled by cucks.

That is so true. :)

I'm always nice, but can be a bit "obtuse" sometimes. I'm attempting to elicit questions from people who may not understand what I'm talking about, hopefully in an "amusing", or at least somewhat thought provoking, sort of way.

My point was (is) that it becomes more and more common for people to get "complainee" in times such as these (pre-GD-Crisis periods) because there is simply more frustration and anxiety during these kinds of periods.

That people take offense at rather innocuous (considering the context) remarks is just a symptom of underdeveloped socialization on the part of the offended.

..and if they want to no longer converse with me, that's fine. Lots of fish in the sea. That won't keep me from fishing though,.. obviously. :)
