Rubbish. Australia is the size of the continental USA. BUT it is 99% uninhabitable because it's mostly a desert. If it was habitable we would already have a population that rivals the USA.

"Turnbull is being accused of giving Trump a quid pro quo in return for going ahead with the refugee deal. In particular, the accusation is that Turnbull was forced to agree to military participation in a future war when Trump requests it. Turnbull has vigorously denied this accusation."

Australia is already committed to defensive wars with the USA. Considering the most likely source of the next war will be China we will join anyway. Not much of a deal for the USA in that case.
Having lived one year in Western Australia and driven all over Australia for 2 months ride I can attest to that. But when has facts ever stopped a leftist from believing? It is a strange argument in anycase, are not leftists against expansion of human habitation? Especially urban expansion? I highly doubt these New refugees will Accept being allocated to Remote regions for terraforming and life of hard Agricultural work when you got a free ride on welfare or easy paying menial jobs in the cities. In Sweden the refugees refused to being allocated to Remote areas. Maybe some of it was due to fear of being easy target of oppression as they have been in their home countries, but most likely it is due to lack of economic opportunities and lack of ghetto's of Cultural brethren.

Australia should keep the illegals as a sign of gratitude for America coming to their defense so often. Or Trump should dump Australia.
